EX6 screw keeps stopping, isn't turning, or the screw cannot be fully seated
EX6: If the screw keeps stopping or isn't turning, first make sure it is fully seated in the EX6 and you have the right power supply (110VAC vs 220VAC).
Next, make sure it's not a motor control board issue:
- Heat up the extruder and remove the screw and nozzle
- Shine a light down the barrel to see if the motor is spinning the screw socket
If the motor isn't turning, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.
If the motor is working, then the square socket where the screw sits is likely clogged with debris. Follow these steps to clean it:
- Heat up the extruder.
- Remove the screw and nozzle.
- Turn off the machine and unplug it.
- Remove the hopper.
- Unscrew the front and back panels that hold the top instrument panel.
- Carefully remove the front panel and top instrument panel, ensuring not to damage any wiring.
- With the panels removed, you should have better access to the square screw socket. Clean out the socket as thoroughly as possible. If the screw still does not fit properly, try heating a metal pick and use it to remove any solidified material in the socket. Alternatively, you can send your EX6 back to us for cleaning. We can handle this for you for a labor fee plus shipping costs.
